Park service to waive fees for Veterans Day

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The National Park Service is waiving admission fees at parks across the country, including Virginia, in honor of Veterans Day.

Free admission begins Friday and runs through the weekend.

Virginia's sites include Historic Jamestowne, the site of the first permanent English settlement in America and Yorktown Battlefield, the site of General Cornwallis' surrender during the American Revolution.

Other sites across Virginia include: Appomattox Court House National Historical Park, National Memorial in McLean, Colonial National Historical Park in Yorktown, George Washington Birthplace National Monument, George Washington Memorial Parkway's Great Falls Park in McLean, Manassas National Battlefield Park, Petersburg National Battlefield, Petersburg, Prince William Forest Park, Triangle and Shenandoah National Park.

Colonial Williamsburg also is offering free admission to military members and their families.
