WASHINGTON, D.C. (WAVY) - Chief of Naval Operations Jonathan Greenert announced his selection of Michael D. Stevens as Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy at a Pentagon press conference June 27.
Stevens served as the Fleet Master Chief at U.S. Fleet Forces Command in Norfolk since August 2010. His other Command Master Chief tours include U.S. Second Fleet and Naval Air Station Pensacola. Stevens joined the Navy in 1983.
"Throughout my career, and every Sailor's career, we've had Chief Petty Officers take care of and shape us," Greenert said. "Master Chief Stevens has the leadership and experience to keep us on course and on speed. I look forward to working closely with him."
Stevens will begin his duty following a ceremony on September 28 at the Washington Navy Yard.
Stevens will serve as an adviser to the Chief of Naval Operations and to the Chief of Naval Personnel in matters of importance to enlisted personnel and their families.
