Three likely dead in Navy jet crash

WHIDBEY ISLAND, Wash. (WAVY) - Three people are dead after a Navy jet crashed off Whidbey Island in Washington state.
According to the U.S. Navy, the E/A-6B took off from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Wash. and went down in the eastern part of the state, approximately 50 miles east of Spokane, Wash.
Officials at NAS Whidbey Island received the report around 11:45 a.m. EST. The Navy confirmed the E/A-6B Prowler involved was assigned to VAQ-129. NBC News reported the Department of Defense said the jet was on a routine training mission.
Navy officials said the status of the aircrew is unknown.
The NBC affiliate KHQ in Washington is reporting three people were on board and all of them have perished. Their identities or ages have not been released.
The jet crashed into a wheat field, creating a crator-like hole in the field's ground and black smoke was seen for miles, according to KHQ.
