NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Two automobile dealerships in Hampton Roads have been placed on the military’s “Off Limits” list, according to the Navy.

The two dealerships, Planet Auto, formerly known as The Car Store, located at 5564 Virginia Beach Blvd. in Virginia Beach, and Variety Motors located at 3530 N. Military Hwy in Norfolk, were placed off-limits to all military personnel in the Hampton Roads area by the Joint Armed Forces Disciplinary Control Board for Southeaster and North Eastern North Carolina.

According to the Navy, the dealerships were listed as off-limits “because they engage in unfair business practices that targeted service members.”

The Navy said activities within the dealerships were brought to the attention of the JAFDCB.

Additionally, Club Minx, formerly known as Club Atlantis, was removed from the off-limits list during the March meeting. The club had been on the list since July of 2011.

At this time, the following businesses remain in the off-limits list:

  • Hampton Pipe and Tobacco, 86 W. Mercury Blvd., Hampton
  • Hampton Pipe and Tobacco, 15435 Warwick Blvd., Newport News
  • Lazy Days, 731 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News
  • Mellow Smoke Tobacco Shop, 1948 Diamond Springs Rd., Virginia Beach
  • Outer Edge Gifts, 760 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News
  • Somewhere in Time, 92 W. Mercury Blvd., Hampton
  • Blazin Herbs, 85 W. Mercury Blvd., Hampton
  • Planet Auto, 5564 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach
  • Variety Motors, 3530 N. Military Hwy, Norfolk

“The safety and security of all service members is a priority with the Department of Defense,” the Navy said. “The off-limits order applies to all military personnel – active duty and reserves.”
