NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Navy personnel on board USS Ramage in Norfolk assisted in a technical rescue Friday morning.

A man fell below the deck of the ship and fractured his knee cap, according to Capt. Hicks with the Norfolk Fire Department.

Ramage crew members provided first aid to the man until emergency crews arrived on scene.

The man was rescued via a crane from the ship and placed on the pier. He was transported to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries, Capt. Hicks said.

The identity of the victim has not been released. It is unknown at this time if he is a crew member of the ship or shipyard personnel.

The Ramage is currently in drydock at Norshipco in Norfolk, Va.
