Hopewell soldier killed in Afghanistan

HOPEWELL, Va. (WAVY) - Pfc. Michael W. Pyron, 30, died Jan. 10 in Parwan Province, Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Pyron, from Hopewell, Va., was assigned to the 25th Signal Battalion, 170th Signal Brigade, 335th Signal Command Theater based in East Point, Ga.

Pyron was born in Hampton, Va. and graduated from Heritage High School in 1999.

He is survived by his wife and two sons.
