HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) - Hampton Roads continues to remember local SEALs and servicemembers killed. On Saturday, 10 On Your Side was there for a special fundraiser for the fallen heroes organized by a girl in middle school.
Harley Middleton, a young artist, opened up her heart and her art to help those in need.
She and a friend spent hours creating one of a kind pottery pieces, and decided to sell them with all the profits going to the foundation that supports SEALs and their families.
"Last week was a rough week for our community. My daughter and her friend wanted to make crafts and I said why don't you do something with those crafts? Donate the money to the NSW," said mother Stephanie Middleton.
At fist, business seemed to be a little slow, but soon business picked up.
For Haley, this is an act of kindness that has personal meaning.
Her father is former military, and while money won't make up for such a tremendous loss to the community, the heart that two little girls have laid out on the table is already lifting some spirits.
Harley sold almost every piece. She raised more than $500. If you would like to help out, visit the Navy SEAL Foundation .
