NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - After several days of delays, nearly 100 soldiers returned to Hampton Roads from a year-long deployment to Kuwait.

A sandstorm caused the 6th Transportation Battalion to postpone its homecoming to Fort Eustis until Thursday afternoon. Their families were initially told they would return Monday.

The soldiers spent the past year assisting with the troop withdrawal in Iraq.
