NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Four Sailors suffered non-life threatening injuries during a refueling off the coast of Florida Tuesday.
According to Brian Badura with US Fleet Forces Command in Norfolk, aircraft carrier USS Truman was refueling by a Military Sealift Command fleet replenishment oiler when a line parted off the coast of Florida.
Badura says two Sailors were transported to Jacksonville, Fla. via Navy helicopter, one was flown to Naval Station Norfolk for further evaluation and one was treated onboard. One of the Sailors sent to Jacksonville has been released. The two other injured Sailors are undergoing evaluation and treatment.
Badura says an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
