PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Coast Guard Station Cape Charles crew members tested out the station's 100th boat in a fleet of 166.
The 45-foot Response Boat-Medium (RB-M) will be replacing aging 41-foot Utility Boats (UTB) and other non-standard size boats, according to David Weydert with the U.S. Coast Guard. The UTBs have been used for more than 25 years.

The RB-Ms can go up to 49 miles per hour, are equipped with full cabins and a navigational system.
Weydert says the RB-Ms primary missions will be search and rescue, waterways and coastal security.
