PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - A man was rescued via medevac by Coast Guard near Wrightsville Beach, N.C., April 10, but later died in a hospital.
The 54-year-old man was rescued from a 20-foot boat approximately 150 yards away from Coast Guard Station Wrightsville Beach in North Carolina, according to a Coast Guard press release.
Crews responded to the boat after the man's girlfriend called New Hanover 911 and asked for help.
Coast Guard officials say a 25-foot response boat and a crew was on the scene within minutes and CPR was administered.
The man was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
