PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - An injured fisherman was rescued by the Coast Guard approximately 60 miles east of Chincoteague on Wednesday afternoon.
According to David Weydert with the Coast Guard, Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads received a report of an injured fisherman aboard the vessel Potluck just before 4 p.m. on Aug. 8.
A MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Elizabeth City, N.C. was then launched. Weydert said the man was hoisted into the helicopter and taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
