CG Cutter Northland returns home

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Coast Guard Cutter Northland and its crew returned March 20 after a 49-day deployment to the Carribean.

While supporting Operation Martillo, its crew interdicted at 35-foot vessel carrying $43.25 million worth of cocaine . The operation was carried out with Coast Guard Cutter Pea Island and Coast Guard helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron based in Jacksonville, Fla.

In addition to Operaion Martillo, crews conducted 95 shipboard drills and 100 helicopter evolutions including aerial force drills, small boat drills, gunnery exercises and casualty control drills.
