Trial for death of Va. soldier delayed

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - The Fort Bragg trial of a Texas soldier charged in the stabbing death of a Virginia soldier has been delayed for three month.
The Fayetteville Observer reported the trial of Spc. Nicholas Bailey of Pflugerville, Texas, was postponed Wednesday until late September to give his expert witnesses time to prepare.
Bailey is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of 19-year-old Spc. Morganne McBeth of Fredericksburg, Va., last July during a deployment in Iraq.
Bailey's court-martial had been scheduled May 31.
Bailey also is charged with obstructing justice, conspiracy and giving false statements.
Pvt. Tyler Cain of Bladenboro was convicted in April of lying about McBeth's death, which originally was reported as an accidental stabbing.
