NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Approximately 53 Marines of Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Teams from Marine Corps Security Force Regiment returned to Norfolk Naval Station Wednesday night after spending more than a month in Haiti.

The Marine unit, an Alert Contingency Platoon, deployed to Haiti on Jan. 18, and had been providing security and crowd control for the U.S. Embassy in Port Au Prince.  According to the Marine Crops, the embassy processes thousands of requests for entry into the U.S. each day.

Haiti was hit by a devastating earthquake on Jan. 12.

The Marine Corps Security Force ACP was commanded by Marine Capt. Peter Ankney.
