NAVAL MEDICAL CENTER PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Personnel from Naval Medical Center Portsmouth left Friday to provide much-needed medical care as part of the Navy's humanitarian effort to Haiti.
The 126 staff members left the medical center on buses to arrive Friday evening in Baltimore where they'll board the USNS Comfort.
The hospital ship is to be staffed with 550 medical personnel and is expected to get underway for Haiti Saturday.
Staff members from Portsmouth participating in the humanitarian
mission include doctors, nurses, corpsmen, pharmacists,
technicians, culinary specialists and administrative personnel.
