JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. (WAVY) - Miss America 2011 spent Monday visiting military personnel and their families in Hampton Roads courtesy of the USO.
Teresa Scanlan visited with airmen at Langley Air Force Base, and also met with children at the base's Youth center.
Later Monday evening, Scanlan is scheduled to have dinner at the Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story USO center.
On Tuesday, she'll have breakfast with local military at the USOHRCV NMPS Center on Naval Station Norfolk, then host the grand re-opening of the ASYMCA/USO center at the Norfolk International Airport.
Scanlan, 18, is from Gering, Nebraska. She won the Miss American title back in January at the age of 17. She is the youngest winner of the Miss America crown since the pageant began in 1921.
