E85 Flex-Fuel pump opens at NS Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Officials from Naval Station Norfolk and Navy Exchange Service Command held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday for the newest publicly accessible E85 flex-fuel gas pump in Hampton Roads.

The pump, located across the street from the NEX gas station and package store on Mall Drive at Naval Station Norfolk, is the second E85 flex-fuel pump in Hampton Roads. The first pump was opened in March, 2009, at Naval Air Station Oceana. There are four public access E85 stations in Virginia; three of which are operated by the Navy Exchange.

The Navy says it operates the largest fleet of vehicles using alternative fuels in the state of Virginia. The new fuel pump provides access to E85 fuel for the Navy's fleet of flex-fuel vehicles as well as to the general public.
