PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - How does BayPort play a part in Newport News' holiday kick off?

All the local communities have their own special way to usher in the holidays. Newport News' way is called "Hollydazzle!" and BayPort is proud to be the largest sponsor of this impressive event. It is called "Hollydazzle" and for a good reason. It's all about the dazzle.

What makes it so dazzling?

City Center has been decorated for the season and all the shops and restaurants are offering special things for the event starting at 6:00 pm, including BayPort.

BayPort gives away a different "dazzling" item each year and this year the first lucky 12,000 people to show up at the BayPort building will receive that dazzling item.

The BayPort sponsored fireworks are spectacular. We've been told that they rival those done in Disney World. The fireworks start at 8:45 p.m. and they are synchronized to music. But prior to the fireworks, Wavy's Chopper 10 will make a special appearance, ushering in the fireworks. They last about 25 minutes! Then the grand finale of the lighting of the 45 foot BayPort Credit Union sponsored Tree.

Also joining BayPort for the festivities is Wavy's Nicole Livas who will be emceeing the event and our own BayPort's Face of Fox, Tracie Paige, will be there signing autographs.

Merchants stay open and the entire city center area is alive and brimming with holiday cheer.
