PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - In the early 1900's there was plenty of opportunity to work in Newport News. The United States had not yet been pulled in to war, but at the shipyard, business was booming. Unfortunately, there just wasn't enough housing, so a planned community was built with the idea that all the necessary amenities would be within easy reach of the residents.

Almost a century later, Hilton Village is showing some signs of change, but hasn't lost a bit of it's charm. It's this week's postcard from Hampton Roads.

Hilton Village has two very strong community organizations that keep people informed and support the merchants.
