PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Patrick Evans Hylton is at the World Food Championships with his hand picked team of local chefs and aptly named Team Chesapeake Bay.
Williamsburg Inn's Travis Brust, Still Worldly Eclectic Tapas' Mike Farrell and Zoes Restaurant's Jerry Weihbrecht comprise Team Chesapeake Bay and they are competing and advancing at the World Food Championships in Las Vegas, NV.
All three chefs on the team made it through the first day and into the finals in the Chefs Challenge of the World Food Championships.
Chef Travis won first place in the Chefs Challenge - beating out scores of very talented culinary professionals from across the globe, including several Food Network stars and a finalist in one of Gordon Ramsey's television challenges. He rocked it with some of our state's favorite foods and foodways, pairing rockfish, oysters, and Edward's Surryano ham with other ingredients. Chef Travis went on to place third in the Final Table, another remarkable feat.
