PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Today is all about hitting the stores for the Black Friday Deals, but Cyber Monday is all about online shopping.

In 2011, Cyber Monday sales were a record-breaking $1.25 billion and this year, the National Retail Federation expects a 12 percent increase.

Author J.R. Smith is an expert on online safety.  He just released his book "Wide Open Privacy: Strategies for the Digital Life."

The Hampton Roads Show talked with the author about how to maximize your online shopping power without compromising your identity.
