NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - This February Hampton Roads residents will have the chance to mingle with famed Sports stars through Thomas Nelson Community College's special series Empowerment Through Fitness commemorating Black History Month.
The itinerary features Olympic gymnast Dominique Dawes, UVA Coach Mike London, Olympic track medalists Francena McCorory and Kellie Wells and former Phillies baseball player Wayne Gomes.
Attendees will benefit from inspiring speeches from sports greats and courses with tips about home organization, exercising the mind and more.
Feb. 7, 7 p.m. Templin Hall - Track Olympians Kellie Wells and Francena McCorory
Feb. 11 7 p.m. Templin Hall - Mike London, UVA Coach
Feb. 21 7 p.m. Templin Hall - Wayne Gomes, Former Phillies baseball player
Feb. 26 - Feature event: VIP Reception with Dominique Dawes 5 p.m. -6:30 p.m. Cost is $25.00 per person. Only 175 tickets will be sold. The tickets will go on sale Friday, February 1. Tickets can be purchased online or on February 15 at Thomas Nelson library from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
We will have an open to the public event: Dominique Dawes will be the keynote speaker. Tickets are free to Dominique Dawes speaking engagement, which will begin at 7 p.m.
