PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Since 1917, Girl Scouts across the country have taken the bake sale to a whole new level to raise money for essential girl scout services and it is that wonderful time of year again.
This month, the Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast are hitting the pavement to sell their cookies and do wonderful things with their profits. Door-to-door sales begin January 12. Cookie delivery will begin February 21-23. Booth sales will last from February 24 through March 24. Cookies are $3.50 per box.
The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the nation's largest girl-led business and leading financial literacy and entrepreneurial program for girls. The benefits of the Girl Scout Cookie Program are more than just financial. Girls also learn skills to leadership, including goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics.
Girl Scouts of the USA have declared February 8, 2013 to be National Girl Scout Cookie Day to increase awareness of what the Girl Scout Cookie Program does for girls and their communities and help explain the skills girls learn through the program that empower them to become future leaders.
Customers can use the Cookie Locator mobile app to search for cookie sales in their neighborhood. The Cookie Locator is a free app available for download from the iTunes Store and the Android Marketplace.
