Thanksgiving closings for Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - With Thanksgiving just around the corner, the City of Suffolk has announced several closings for the holiday.

Tim Kelley with the City of Suffolk said the following will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend:

• City offices will close at noon Wednesday, Nov. 21 and will reopen Monday, Nov. 26 at 8:30 a.m.
• The Suffolk Tourism Visitor Center will close at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21 and will reopen on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 9 a.m.
• All city libraries will close at noon Wednesday, Nov. 21 and will reopen at their normal times on Monday, Nov. 26. The Chuckatuck branch will be closed all day Wednesday, Nov. 21.
• The Suffolk Art Gallery will close at noon Wednesday, Nov. 21 and will reopen Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 10 a.m.
• All Suffolk Recreation Centers, including the East Suffolk Recreation Center, will close at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21 and will reopen at their normal times on Monday, Nov. 26.
• The four major parks, Lone Star Lakes, Constant’s Wharf, Sleepy Hole and Bennett’s Creek will remain open during the holiday, but no park attendant will be on duty.
• The Southeastern Public Safety Authority Transfer Station will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22 and will open at its normal time on Friday, Nov. 24.
• The Regional Landfill will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22 and will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 23.
• The Suffolk Executive Airport will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22 and will reopen Friday, Nov. 23.           

In addition, trash and recycling scheduled to be picked up on Thursday, Nov. 22 will be picked up on Friday, Nov. 23. Trash and recycling scheduled to be picked up on Friday, Nov. 23 will be picked up on Saturday, Nov. 24. Trash and recycling must be placed curbside no later than 7 a.m.
