WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) - Blue Talon Bistro
420 Prince George Street
Williamsburg, VA 23185
(757) 476-2583
First impressions:
It's not your father's bisto. I was expecting stuffy and got vibrant instead.
Fun colors on the wall and the big windows cast perfect light on a sunny day.
The zinc bar dominates the space and a great tin ceiling shines overhead.
The food is venturesome and delicious.
Atmosphere:
Very upbeat. Blue Talon is a busy place at lunch time. Waitstaff buzz about, amidst a chorus of clinking silverware and casual conversation.
There are chickens everywhere. Paintings of chickens, statues of chickens, chickens on plates, chickens on napkins and tile. It's delightfully kitchy and I love it.
Your best bet:
Chef David Everett calls it "Serious Comfort Food."
I call it a nice blend of fancy and familiar.
To wit: for lunch you can have a Escargots Bourguignon ( $9.95) for an appetizer and a Meatloaf Sandwich ($9.95) for your main plate.
Really special deals:
Nothing is too expensive.
The priciest thing on the menu is the Grilled Swordfish ($24.95)
Try the Mac 'n Cheese, its famous!
When you're thirsty:
Great wine selection.
Illy coffee.
Try the Blue Talon Cocktail ($8.95)
Virginia Root Beer
