VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A celebration of Black History Month concluded with a parade at Windsor Woods Elementary School in Virginia Beach Tuesday.

Third and fourth grade students paraded through the halls carrying pictures and facts about some of the most influential African Americans in history.

The parade showcased several of the most famous African Americans, such as Oprah Winfrey, Thurgood Marshall and Harriet Tubman, just to name a few.

See attached photos of Michelle Rousselow's fourth grade students representing Dr. Daniel Hale Williams who performed the first open heart surgery in 1893 and Mary McClaskey's third grade class representing President and Mrs.Obama surrounded by the members of the Secret Service.
