NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - THE WIFE OF KING LOUIS THE XIV OF FRANCE SAID: “THE TRUE WAY TO SOFTEN ONE'S TROUBLES IS TO SOLACE THOSE OF OTHERS.”
To many, a cancer diagnosis would be reason enough to sit back and take care of just yourself. But to this honoree it was a rally cry to ease the burden she knew others with cancer were carrying.
After her diagnosis she was instrumental in bringing the fire departments of Virginia Beach and Norfolk to join forces in the fight against cancer this past summer. The first PINK HEALS FESTIVAL was established in Norfolk’s East Beach area and with her determination and spirit, over $16,000 was raised to benefit the Cancer Care Foundation of Tidewater which assists all victims of this disease.
Despite her own diagnosis and battle, Paula is working towards her personal dream -- to develop a program to grant dreams and wishes to cancer victims in the Hampton Roads area.
Our Partners On Your Side and WAVY-TV honor PAULA GOTHWAIT as one of our 10 WHO CARE.
