NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - GANDHI SAID: “BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD.”
Truly exemplifying Gandhi’s quote… the list of volunteer activities this honoree has participated in is extensive and world-changing.
For 15 years, she has worked with Meals on Wheels getting to know the people to whom she delivers. Through Virginia Beach Christian Church, she operates the church foodbank four days per week. She delivers food for Samaritan House shelters and collects and mails books and gifts to our troops in war zones. She collects supplies for students, helps with the Angel Tree and fills holiday baskets for those in need.
She serves as her neighborhood watch block captain and works in animal rescue. She ushers for the Virginia Arts Festival and provides transportation for visiting artists to do school performances.
For 16 years, she and her husband have served as a host family to foreign exchange students, assisting students with finding scholarships and taking them on cultural and historical tours. This honoree and her husband also host foreign officers as community sponsors for the Joint Forces Staff College.
She is the change we want to see in the world. Our Partners On Your Side and WAVY-TV honor CLAIRE CARBONE among our 10 WHO CARE.
