NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - “WE CAN DO NO GREAT THINGS -- ONLY SMALL THINGS WITH GREAT LOVE.” --MOTHER TERESA
This honoree does many small things with great love. A naturalized American citizen, he quickly became the perfect example of American values and spirit through his extraordinary gifts to our community.
He joined the Poquoson Kiwanis in 2000 and quickly became committed to the work they do. He rapidly rose to become President of the Club and then Lieutenant Governor of the Division. He was named the 2009 Poquoson Kiwanian of the Year and has been awarded the Hixson Fellowship in recognition of significant commitment and endless contributions to the Kiwanis Family of Clubs.
Speaking of endless contributions… this honoree has also mentored the Poquoson High School Key Club, organized the Garvey Memorial Soccer Tournament raising over $100,000 for breast cancer research, drives elderly citizens to medical appointments, refurbishing parks, building residential ramps for handicapped citizens, manning the U.S.O. station at the airport, supporting library activities, judging school science fairs, and organizing regional Kiwanis support of the Salvation Army’s clothing, food, and funds donations.
Doing many small things with great love... Our Partners On Your Side and WAVY-TV honor BRIAN WILSON as one of our 10 WHO CARE.
