Jeremy Wheeler, meteorologist for "Wavy News Ten Today" and "Wavy News Ten Midday," joined the Super Doppler 10 Weather team in August of 2004.
Jeremy grew up in a small town in Illinois called Ottawa. His education started at the University of Illinois where he received his Bachelor's Degree in atmospheric science. It was also where he met his wife-to-be.
After graduating, he decided to head to the south and get a Master's Degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. While attending school, Jeremy was a lab instructor as well as the weekend meteorologist for WABG-TV in Greensville, MS.
Right after graduating from MSU, Jeremy turned about and taught at the same University for one year as a meteorology instructor. While teaching, he also did weather at WCBI-TV in Columbus, MS, and was a storm chase team leader.
Prior to joining WAVY-TV, Jeremy was a meteorologist at WAAY-TV in Huntsville, AL. While there he covered numerous tornado outbreaks and severe weather situations. He was awarded the AMS seal of approval in 2004. He recently qualified for the CBM (Certified Broadcast Meteorologist) seal. He was the first to get it here at WAVY-TV.
Outside of weather, Jeremy likes to spend time with this family, do crossword puzzles and describes himself as a movie-buff. He also likes to stay healthy, so he works out 3 to 5 days a week - weather pending.
