Liz Palka couldn’t be happier to join the WAVY-TV 10 and FOX 43 news team as a reporter. You’ll find Liz reporting weekdays on WAVY News 10 Today. Not only is working at WAVY a “dream job” for her, she can’t believe she lives so close to the water now!

The Commonwealth feels like a second home to Liz because this is where she started her career. Her first job after college was at the Charlottesville Newsplex in Charlottesville, Va. At the Newsplex, Liz reported on everything from politics to record snowfall to celebrity visits. Some of the most difficult stories she covered included the University of Virginia lacrosse murder and the disappearance of Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington.

From Charlottesville, Liz moved to Greensboro, N.C. where she worked at WFMY News 2. The story that Liz will always remember from the Piedmont Triad is when tornadoes plowed across the entire state in April 2011. She reported from the destruction locally and in Sanford, N.C.

Liz is a proud graduate of Elon University’s School of Communications. She’s a “Maryland girl,” raised outside of Washington, D.C. in Gaithersburg, Md. Liz’s interests vary from theater to the Washington Nationals to photography. She loves spending time with her friends and taking family trips to Cape May, N.J. and Cook Forest State Park in Pennsylvania. She plans to take full advantage of all that Hampton Roads has to offer.
